Korean car company at the Detroit auto show presented a new fastback called Stinger. The 2018 model car is a completely new branch for Kia and is the fastest, most powerful in the company's history.
The word fastback does not mean a certain type of body, it is rather a feature of the technical performance of the car, which is applicable to different body types, but often it is liftbacks and hatchbacks. A sign relating the car to this type is a sloping roofline of the body, which smoothly goes to the rear of the car. In most cases, car manufacturers refer their model to this type in order to emphasize the sporting direction and personality of the model.
The new Stinger received not only a new body structure, but also many technical innovations, bringing the car to another level.
Exterior
The appearance of the car is one of its main advantages. The exterior of the novelty absorbed all the positive features and features of the brand sports cars, but the car remains a recognizable Korean and at the same time an incredibly beautiful fastback.
Stringer sample 2018 received a slightly raised long hood. Optics received a drop shape and LED design. The front bumper of a small size received a classic grille and stylish aerodynamic niches with openings for additional air intakes.
On the side of the car also received a kind of sports direction. All the details are aimed at giving the novelty swiftness and sporting confidence. The wheel arches of the car turned out to be quite large, and under them are wheels with 18-inch wheels. The front wings of the Stinger are equipped with air ducts, the roofline is peculiar to fastbeeks and is characterized by smooth transition lines. Side mirrors got a silver color and a special aerodynamic shape.
The rear of the car is characterized by large embossed bumpers and narrow LED optics. Bottom of the car emphasizes the black apron, which received dual exhaust diffusers with chrome trim.
Stinger's interior design 2018
Inside the car has received a number of design solutions aimed at making the car as modern as possible. Only high-quality materials were used for the interior trim, including:
- soft plastic;
- polished metal;
- carbon fiber;
- leather.
The steering wheel of the multifunctional execution has received an original sports form and a three-spoke look. Immediately behind it, an informative panel was installed with an instrument with an on-board computer and a large monitor equipped with analogue scales. The center console is equipped with a 7-inch touch screen, immediately below it, three round deflector of the climate system. Below the deflectors are the keys and controls for controlling the audio system and climate equipment. A spectacular continuation becomes a large tunnel, where there are forms for installing glasses and a gearshift knob.
For convenient control, most of the keys are illuminated so that you can intuitively navigate in the dark. Car seats are low, which emphasizes the sport class cars. It should be noted that the seats were very comfortable thanks to a special anatomical shape with pronounced lateral support. The seats of the first and second rows turned out to be quite functional due to the functions of heating and ventilation, which makes the trip quite comfortable and not very tiresome. LED lamps were used for illumination, their color can be selected when buying a car.
Technical parameters of the novelty
Stinger's dimensions:

- wheelbase - 2910 mm;
- ground clearance - 150 mm.
The basic version of the car will receive front-wheel drive, full will be available only as an option. In addition, the all-wheel drive version of the fastback will be equipped with a special device responsible for the dynamic distribution of torque between the wheels. Thanks to this function, grip will be maximized, and the level of torque will be adjusted depending on the road and its conditions.
Suspension - independent, adaptive shock absorbers are used. Brakes - ventilated disc.
The engines that will be installed on the new Stinger:
- petrol V4 with a volume of 2 liters, turbocharging gives a power of 255 horsepower;
- petrol row six with dual turbocharger system. Engine capacity is 3.3 liters, and power 365 horsepower.
Transmission - 8-speed automatic transmission with electronic control function. It works in 5 modes, it is possible to adjust the speed of the gears and the reaction speed of the gas pedal.
Start sales and price
The novelty will be the first to be purchased in the countries of America, the start of sales is scheduled for December 2017. After that, Stinger will appear in Europe, but this is no longer until January 2018.
When the novelty goes on sale in the domestic market is unknown, but the Korean company says that they are closely engaged in adapting the car to the conditions and roads of the Russian Federation. The cost of the basic version of the 2018 model car stopped at around 40 thousand dollars, the price of the top version remains unknown.
