From time to time, your shoes start living in the hallway at random, cluttering the corridor and forcing you to constantly stumble? Today we will tell you where to start, how to store, what shelves, drawers and lockers for shoes to choose.

Before we consider all sorts of options for shelves and other storage sites, we recommend you conduct a thorough audit of your shoes and restore order, namely:

1. Sort.

Among the entire collection that has been accumulated over many years, identify uncomfortable, small, worn out, worn-out or old-fashioned shoes.
Tip: for a better understanding of the situation, sort the shoes of each household individually.
2. Disposal.
If everything is clear with the “candidates for rubbish”, then it’s not so easy to part with more or less whole, but annoying shoes.
Tip: sell online or offer to friends, family or acquaintances.
3. Dirty and clean storage.
Use an open shelf shoebox in the hallway only for storing casual shoes. Ideally, it should have a maximum of two pairs of clean children's and adult shoes.But what to do with the dirty? Obviously, not everyone will immediately want to wash their shoes, hardly crossing the threshold.
Tip: organize at the entrance a kind of “island with dirty shoes”. For this purpose, any empty pan with sides is perfect (as an option, a large kitchen pan). And when there is time and desire - wash and put all pairs on an open shelf-shoemaker. So, you solve the problem of “crowds” of dirty shoes at the entrance.
4. Planning with perspective.
It is clear that for each season has its own shoes. But often in the hallways on the shelves at the same time are warm shoes, and autumn, along with rubber boots, and sneakers.
Tip: in this case, plan enough space for shoes with the expectation of two cold or warm season. And if in your house there are often guests, take into account these shoes when calculating.
5. Perfect storage out of season.
After solving the issue of storing everyday shoes, most often front, seasonal or special, sent for quite a long storage, in the end there is not so much left. Nevertheless, it is also necessary for it to allocate its optimal place.
Ideally, when everyone has such shoes will be stored in a personal closet. It is important to arrange it so that it is easy to reach and easy to recognize.
The idea is this: seasonal shoes should be hidden on the bottom or on the top shelf of the closet, front dress - under the appropriate outfits.
Tip: a great storage option - in commensurate transparent boxes with labels, which marked one or another pair.
If there are no transparent boxes, take the usual cardboard, which is most often packed with shoes when buying. Make stickers, for example, such: “winter - black boots, summer - white sandals”, etc.
Often in the hallway one of the seasonal pairs is used almost every day, while others are used in case of bad weather, but there is no possibility to store them separately in the closet. Such rubber boots and overshoes are best organized on a special retractable shelf-tray - always “at hand” and in perfect order.
They are also best kept at the front door. Here, the mass of solutions - from special holders and sections in the closet to fabric hanging wardrobe trunks, which can be hidden in the wardrobe compartment.

Retractable shelf

A great idea is to replace the filling of the traditional bedside table for the hallway, replacing the standard shelves with retractable slots at the required intervals. Thus, you will provide accurate storage of shoes and shoes, and thanks to the closed facade solve the problem of dustiness of shoes.

Drawer

This option is a great alternative to a shoe shelf to save space in the hallway. In the drawer you can hold a lot of pairs of shoes, without taking up such square meters that are so valuable in a limited space.
Discard banquettes and classic open shelves in favor of unusual, more functional designs. Here we must take into account the appearance and quantity of shoes. So, the original rack with round open sections, as in the photo, is an excellent option for storing low shoes and shoes.
Under high boots, a similar construction must be planned somewhat differently: for example, it should be lifted at a sufficient distance from the floor to accommodate additional high sections and an “island with dirty shoes”.
More unusual ideas for shoes are shown in the following photos.

Storage space in the hallway of special shoes

In the issue of storage should also take into account the habits of a particular family. Someone is keen on active sports - is engaged in running, skating or roller skating, and someone is engaged in ballet. Therefore, do not forget to plan a separate place for pointe shoes, running shoes, skates or rollers.
Tip: it would be ideal to organize a “personal locker” for each family member, if, of course, the area allows. Believe me, this is a great way to keep order for a long time.
Important:
  • store shoes competently, so as not to deteriorate its shape (especially boots with a high shaft);

  • If there are small children in the house, then sometimes it is not easy to find a second shoe from a pair. However, the shoes must be kept in full;

  • Do not move away shoes that need repair. It must be kept in perfect order, otherwise the snow may be an unpleasant surprise for you;

  • any shoes require ventilation, especially during long-term storage;

  • expensive shoes should be stored with noses, tightly stuffed with paper, or kept on special shoes;

  • vertical storage is more convenient for review, but will require more shoe care. This primarily concerns the open sections of the dressing room when dust accumulates on the shoes.
